Welcome to the West Side Arts Coalition!
My love affair with the Arts began when I was a child. As a young girl, my parents used to send me to a very special Summer Arts Camp. Interlochen Center for the Arts was, and still is, a very magical place. It was there that I was first exposed to music and children from all over the world. The children in my cabin studied there and went on to become ballerinas with the NYC Ballet, or professional musicians with worldwide acclaimed Symphony Orchestras. At Interlochen I studied piano, and took voice lessons. From there my world began to open up to the Arts. I went on to study at the University of Wisconsin- Madison to do my undergraduate work. I graduated from there with honors and moved to San Fransisco, CA where I worked as an Activity Therapist on a Special Care Unit. I traveled to Alaska a few years later and worked with children and explored the outdoors for a little while.
Some years later I was studying at the Cleveland Institute of Art on a Professional Scholarship. It was recommended that explore the possibility of continuing with my design work at Parson's School of Design. So I moved here to New York where I eventually became certified in Graphic and Digital Design. One of my teachers at Parson's here in New York City suggested that I pursue my talent in Photography. Since then I have been doing various freelance Design and Photography Work. My work ranges from Website Design to Photographing Weddings to Designing Newsletters and business cards. I was introduced to the West Side Arts Coalition while attending a friend's art reception about a year ago. Since then my involvement has increased from exhibiting my photography work to curating, to my current Webmaster Job. I enjoy working with the community on the Upper West Side and look forward to continuing my involvement as a current Board Member. When I am not at the Gallery I am a few blocks away, where I work part time at Symphony Space. There I can enjoy my exposure to an amazing array of talent from all over the world. Of course, when I am not on the Upper West Side I am in Brooklyn, NY where I reside with my husband and son.
