Artist Statement:
Tarra Louis-Charles is a self-taught artist living in Boston, MA. She began drawing at the age of 4 and found herself getting absorbed in her drawings. Born in Brooklyn, NY, and having had a very nomadic life, she’s had the opportunity of witnessing many different ways of living that helped to add to the tapestry of her life and her art. She lived in Haiti for 4 years and those years awakened in her a strong connection with her heritage. She started painting seriously in 2006 during her years in University and began experimenting with charcoal, oil pastels, and ink. In 2009, she turned to acrylics, a medium that helped enrich her visions and bring her color ideas to life.
