MARGO MEAD
Artist Website: http://meadart.weebly.com
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Influenced by extensive study of Western and Asian art, and drawing from live models, charged images have emerged. Using oil crayon, black ink and watercolor on rice paper or multimedia or acrylic on canvas I explore the human figure as a protagonist. I am poised between descriptive realism and abstraction through the bold balance of color, form, dimension and line. Minimal line is suggestive of anatomical structure as well as human emotions. My figures react to what we have done to earth with shame, sadness, fear, and the rediscovery of responsibility to cherish, protect and restore. I bring my experiences to a creative collective unity by gifting myself the freedom to speak by virtue of my work.
