Linda Lessner
Artist Statement:
Painting is, for me, a part-time but serious occupation in which I have been steadily engaged for many years. For some time I worked exclusively in oils, but then became fascinated with pastels, and currently paint in both media.
My absorbing interest at this time is the landscape. Although my paintings are primarily representational and usually based on actual places, my aim is to evoke the mood and emotion that a particular aspect of nature arouses in me, and to convey it to the viewer.
As a social worker, I have been able to combine my skills in working with people and my interest in art by teaching painting to disabled, elderly nursing home residents and to developmentally disabled adults. This has been an extremely satisfying experience.
