Ba Djibril Ngawa
Artist Statement:
My art is a reflection of being raised in a pastoral nomadic community in Mauritania, Africa. I create freely while traveling on this endless journey of searching, learning and discovering the unknown; the mystic. The past, the present and the future come together as one. I view this experience as a bridge that links the cultural heritage of my nomadic - pastoral traditions with the contemporary artistic expressions that I later learned while living in Brooklyn, New York. I express myself in different ways through: painting, photography, drawing and the written word. I continue retracing my personal experiences through the work that I create and conclude that the “one humanity” is the common cord.
