Anthony Monitto

Statement: 

             I have always been interested in photography, drawing and painting.  I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queens College.   My subject matter is hardly original.  However, I try to put a personal and original twist on the age-old genres of landscape, cityscape, still life and interior scenes.   I often use my photographs as the basis for my paintings. Certain places and things that I see and experience move me greatly and I want to try to represent and express them in a way that language cannot.  As Edward Hopper said; “if you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint".
