Statement:
"Twenty-first
century fairy tale," seems to describe me to myself. Romantic,
sensuous, mythic, saturated with color, these cameos of women
mirror my own inner joy of life.
One
day a silhouette - a cameo - sprung into my mind and set off
a series of images I had to paint. I am drawn to a cerain palette
- magenta, yellow, orange, pink, red, violet and green - and
subject - women. These are women who, like myself, have reached
an age where they can express a cerain satisfaction of self.
Art
of all civilizations and eras informs my painting, as well as
the need to tell a story or raise a mystery.
The
intensity of the colors of my palette in the right balance with
one another determines the rightness of the painting for me.
I know a painting is finished when all elements are in a certain
harmony and color burns brightly mimicking the true light -
the sun. All colors are illuminated by light, some to luminescence.
My
work and research has given me much pleasure. May it increase
your own.
