ELTON
TUCKER
Statement:
Elton Tucker is a native New Yorker. You can see this in the energy that moves through his work. His vibrant paintings are full of bold patterns, high energy and movement. Elton's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows some of which include, the Taller Boricua Gallery, UFA Gallery, Savacou Gallery and Clinton Hill Simply Gallery as well as the West Side Arts Coalition. His work has won him several awards some of which include NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority Art for Transit, Artists Fellowship Inc. and The Wheeler Foundation. Elton was also awarded the 2006 Harlem Renaissance (Art In The Park) Cultural Hero and Living Legend Award From the Harlem Renaissance Economic Development Corporation.
A graduate of the High School of Art & Design. He furthered his education at The Fashion Institute of Technology receiving his Associate's degree in Commercial Art. Presently Elton takes additional studies at The Art Student's League of New York.
Elton's work has been published on greeting cards, calendars and book covers. Presently Elton works as a full time artist and teaches art at the Kennedy Center in Harlem. One of Elton's paintings (Believe In Yourself) was on Whoopi as part of the set design. Recently Elton and The Cultural Collective, an eclectic group of visual artists and poets, made history by taking part in Harlem's first open studio artist tour.
"I see my talent as a gift from the Creator and something to be cherished and shared with others. I feel my mission is to produce work that people can relate to, get inspiration from and utilize in their everyday lives."
As a member of the West Side Arts Coalition Elton's work has been applauded in the February/March 2002 and April/May 2004 issues of "Gallery & Studio" magazine.
