EMILY
RICH
Artist
Bio:
Emily Rich is an artist who has long been one of our most committed
postmodern exponents of the Abstract Expressionist ethos. She
is a consummate painter, capable of creating real excitement
through her ability to manipulate impastos and fill her compositions
with a sense of life and movement. Rich has an exquisite sense
of color and also possesses great ability in drawing due to
her early career as a fashion illustrator.
Rich
works in a variety of media and is also a photographer who has
curated many shows. In her own photography Rich reveals her
painterly nature employing double exposure to dynamic effect
with overlapping images. Rich's lively layering in her photographs
is very close, in fact, to the way she handles space in her
energetic gestural paintings.
