Membership Benefits:
- Monthly
newsletter throughout the season, September-June. Members
may submit notices
of their activities and short original pieces for publication.
- Visual
arts exhibitions rotating every three weeks throughout the
season at the Broadway Mall Community Center. Other exhibitions
at outside locations including the Cork Gallery at Lincoln
Center, Manhattan Borough President's Office and outdoor street
fairs, and occasional international venues.
- Curator
training program. Member artists and
friends of the arts are given the opportunity to work with
an experienced curator to learn the process of producing a
show: selecting artists, preparing and mailing invitation
cards and press kits, organizing the reception, and installing
the artworks.
- Opportunities
to initiate and direct events or curate exhibitions.
- Special
seminars on subjects such as creative techniques, career strategies,
organizing an exhibition, etc.
- Annual
members' meeting to network, socialize, and help shape the
organization.
- Bulletin
board at Broadway Mall Community Center for notices of interest
to or contributions by members.
With a few
exceptions, the work of the Coalition is done through its member
volunteers. You are asked to identify what interests you most,
what benefits you would like to receive as a member, and in what
ways you can be useful.
From time to time you may be asked to perform a small job or errand,
such as helping to mail the newsletter. You may also volunteer
to serve in a larger capacity, on a committee or as an advisor
to the Board. You may nominate yourself or another member for
election to the Board.
If you cannot help in these practical ways, you may give a money
donation in lieu of volunteer service.
Your help and involvement are greatly appreciated. We look forward
to working with you.
