I paint because I enjoy it and because I believe that in some unidentifiable way, the act of painting helps me in other matters. A teacher once told me painting is color -- color first, shape second and technique third. That suits me. I work on a canvas until I feel I can do nothing more with it and it is reasonable to hope other people might like to see it. My paintings are forthright, with no hidden meaning.
